Why Do We Do This?

Police Officers are our first line of defense against crime, terror, and anarchy.

They are there for us when we need them and, believe it or not, they are there for us when we don't think we need them. They put their lives on the line to provide safety and security for our communities. We want to show our appreciation and help them.

**More than 18,200 law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty in the United States.

**A total of 1,671 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years, an average of one death every 53 hours or 167 per year. There were 181 law enforcement officers killed in 2007.

**On average, more than 56,000 law enforcement officers are assaulted each year, resulting in over 16,000 injuries.

**The divorce rate among law enforcement families is 50% higher than the average among U.S. marriages.

**Twice as many law enforcement officers die from suicide than are killed in the line of duty.

**The average police officer sees more violence and devastating events in one week than the average American sees in their entire lifetime.

If you need more, we ask only one question:

Who patrolled YOUR neighborhood last night while YOUR family slept safely in their beds?
