Musharraf to appear in special court on Feb 7: sources

ISLAMABAD: Sources close to former military ruler Pervez Musharraf have confirmed that the ex-army strongman would appear before the special court on February 7 for the treason case hearing, DawnNews reported.
Sources moreover said the joint police team comprising personnel from Islamabad and Rawalpindi had been informed of Musharraf's decision.
On Jan 31, the three-judge special court had issued bailable arrest warrants for retired Gen Pervez Musharraf in the high treason case. The court had also dismissed his application seeking cardiac treatment in the United States. Furthermore, the court had directed that the warrant be sent to the inspector general of police, Islamabad, to get it served and submit its compliance report on the date fixed for hearing of the case. Under the order, Musharraf was also required to submit surety bonds worth Rs2.5 million.
Today, the joint police team visited the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC), during which Musharraf's security team received the warrant and submitted the requisite surety bonds.
Following the procedure, the joint police team was informed that Musharraf would be appearing in the special court on Friday.
